Application	Large pitch transmission chain used in a wet environment.
Failure mode	Heavy pitting corrosion
Diagnosis	The chain had been operating in a wet environment and the external grease coating had been removed. This resulted in pitting corrosion of the plates and bush.
Solution	Maintain lubrication and external protective coating to the chain.
