Specialist power transmission group, Renold, is currently presenting its range of chain, gearboxes and couplings at the Hannover Messe in Germany, which is open until April 24th.
On stand C42 in hall 27, visitors to the show can see its world-beating roller chain range as well as its unique Smartlink load monitoring technology.
The working model shown at the front of the stand incorporates a jPM gearbox from Renold Gears and a chain drive using Renold Syno lube-free chain fitted with a Roll-Ring chain tensioner.
Visitors can manually adjust the centre distance of the sprockets to see how Smartlink technology detects the increased load on the chain. This ability to demonstrate exactly what is happening to a chain during its normal operation is already proving crucial to both maintenance engineers and machine designers.
